An exciting opportunity in an Outstanding residential school for 55 primary children with Social Emotional and Mental Health needs to lead and innovate both across the school and within our long established residential unit. 

As part the school’s Senior Management Team, you will use your experience and knowledge to lead the multi-disciplinary pupil support across the whole school, as well as the strategic and operational management of the residential unit.

The right candidate will be an outstanding practitioner, fluent in multi-agency working practices. You will demonstrate an ability to build transformational change through a creative approach, have high professional standards, a proven track record of improving services and a sense of fun and enjoyment.   This is an exceptional opportunity to work as part of a highly experienced and well established team to support children with the most complex and challenging needs.

The Lodge, our residential unit, is a 10 place Monday-Friday boarding facility for pupils who attend Wolverdene Special School.  All pupils in the Lodge are offered a place to support their educational and social development.

Wolverdene Special School is a 56 place primary school for pupils with a range of social, emotional and mental health difficulties.  Our most recent OFSTED (November 2016) identified our school as Outstanding in all categories.

We are looking for a graduate with a good degree who would eventually like to train to become a qualified teacher. This is a very exciting opportunity for the right person.

We are a key strategic partner in a local teaching school alliance (www.teachaaa.co.uk/) and we have several years of experience in successfully supporting applicants who have applied for the School Direct teacher training programme.

We are looking to appoint a graduate as a learning support assistant to join us with the possibility of taking up a School Direct training position. The intention is that you would want to go on and become a trainee teacher at our school. If you are interested in this role, you will apply to join the School Direct teacher training programme for September 2018. This means you would qualify as a teacher for September 2019.
